August 2019 Update

ON THE ROAD WITH JESUS!

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” (Psalm 119:105).

It’s summertime! A time to be outdoors and bask in God’s beautiful creation!

My husband and I love to ride our bicycles through nature along many scenic roads and trails. There’s always hills which we strenuously climb through perseverance, but then there’s the joy of being able to breeze downhill without any effort at all. My favorite (of course) is along the flat and scenic paths with the wind at our backs when we can effortlessly cruise along!

However I’ve also discovered while riding down a path too fast (and in my human pride), I can lose control and get into an accident (it’s happened and by God’s grace I’m well)!

Our bike rides are a great analogy for living life.

Isn’t it a joy to effortlessly ride along in pleasure and prosperity?

When life is going well, it’s easy to get complacent, become prideful, but then we run into problems.  When life is an uphill battle (and in this hurting and sinful world, it often is), it can be met with discouragement, adversity, and doubt. But those are the times we can be most strengthened by God.

I want to encourage you to keep asking God to give you more faith, courage, and enthusiasm. Below are some Bible verses offering guidance for us all along the way:

FAITH: Hebrews 12:1-2a: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith."

COURAGE: Deuteronomy 31:6: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

ENTHUSIASM: Colossians 3:23: "Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men."

And I can’t forget our life verse and wedding text (after 40 years of marriage, it’s never let us down): Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Christ makes our paths straight!

Through all the ups and downs and even detours of life, He’s always with us. That’s especially true as our nation recently experienced the tragedies in El Paso and Dayton. I think of the popular song, “Jesus Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood.  We can do that as we surrender to Him in prayer. Luis has been an excellent example of this through his illness and the Palau ministry has been doing this for over 50 years in their walk with Him. Please journey with me in prayer support for Luis, Andrew, and the entire Palau team as they proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ for salvation and guidance through the peaks and valleys of life.

Journeying with Jesus in Prayer,

July 2019 Update

FREEDOM IN JESUS!

“Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17).

Our nation recently celebrated its independence as a free nation.

We are so blessed to live in this great and beautiful country. We, as followers of Jesus, have it even better, knowing that God provides freedom from sin and condemnation!

“Therefore there’s now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus . . . who has set you free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:1-2).

As we reside and trust in Christ, we are freed from the penalty of eternal death!

Psalm 119:45 says, “I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.”

As we attempt to obey God’s law’s, they don’t restrict us, but instead allow us to be freed to be what God designed us to be. By living God’s way and seeking His forgiveness, we’re free from sin and guilt and can live to fulfill God’s plan for our lives. Let’s thank Jesus – our Savior and Redeemer – for His ultimate sacrifice on the cross that makes us no longer slaves to sin, and ushers us into the true free and abundant life!

And we don’t have to be apprehensive! Don’t doubt this! By faith in Christ, we can directly enter into God’s presence through prayer. In fact, He yearns to hear from us! Will you join me in prayer support for Luis, Andrew, and the entire Palau team as they continue to proclaim the Good News of freedom in Jesus Christ!

Please open the below reports for praise and prayer updates. I also invite you to join the quarterly conference call this month on July 23.

June 2019 Update

SO MUCH BETTER THAN ALONE!

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor (Ecclesiastes 4:9).

What joy to partner with the Palau Association in prayer! God is at work in so many wonderful ways! Palau the Movie came out in early April, and now Luis’ new book “A Life On Fire” is available! I just finished reading it and I highly recommend it! It’s focused on key people in his life, the foundational lessons those relationships taught him (and can teach us), as well as biblical principles for living out the Good News.

In Luis’ book, Chapter 8 is about the team that’s stood with him during all these years of ministry. That includes you! He quotes an African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together.”

Here are some points Luis shares that we can take to heart as part of his team:

  • No one has all the gifts of the body of Christ.

  • We need each other desperately . . . staff and team are different. With a team, the investment is high, personal, and often lifelong.

  • This team is here because they want millions to hear the Gospel. They want nations to be blessed and the Church to be made strong.

  • We can revive God’s people by teaching them the principles of victorious Christian living, of overcoming, of living consistently with God’s will for their own good and the good of their neighborhood and nation.

  • We should all be servants of Christ, of the Church, and of the lost whom Jesus would go to any lengths to bring to Himself. We should exist for the benefit of others.

  • God wants us to have genuine love for all people.

  • All of us should stay humble and not dwell on our own interests.

  • We can look forward to Jesus returning!

  • If we spend time with God, the rest (the love, the vision, the faith, the humility) will come. It’s when we spend time in God’s presence, and walk in our freedom in Christ, that we glow. Nothing can replace it. In His light, all darkness flees.

In the new book, Luis shares that his team and supporters have prayed sacrificially and with power over the more than 50 years of ministry. “Spiritual warfare is real,” he writes. “Team members engage in the prayer and resistance of spiritual warfare throughout every phase of an evangelistic campaign. In God’s army, nobody is a nobody. Everybody is a somebody. The Lord opened massive doors swinging on the hinges of regular people. A nudge from the Spirit through a willing person can become an avalanche of abundant grace.”

What a blessing to know that not only are we on Luis’ team, on his national women’s prayer team (NWPT), but more importantly, God’s team!  Our prayers matter and make a difference.  That grace flows through us as the Holy Spirit uses us for His glory! Thank you for your ongoing prayer support for Luis, Andrew, Kevin and the team. Please open the below reports to know how to pray in more detail.

These are important days. Luis, Andrew, and the team are on their way to Madrid soon and needs our prayer support! Go team!

Better together in prayer,
Gail Stockamp

May 2019 Update

CHRIST LIVES IN US!

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20).

These are exciting days! Did you see the Palau the Movie?  If not, I highly recommend it! God is using it in a powerful way all over the United States and Latin America! In one of the scenes, Luis (played by well-known Argentine actor Gaston Pauls) is preaching on a street corner in Argentina. When they were done filming there, a man approached Gaston.

He thanked the “pastor” for sharing the message of salvation and told him that he had just accepted Jesus into his life! Gaston was surprised as he was only reciting his “lines” (which happened to include God’s Word). Gaston told the man he was only an actor, but that didn’t change the man’s decision for Jesus!

God’s Word does not return void! The Good News was proclaimed and received! In fact, through the movie and by playing the part of Luis, Gaston himself rededicated his life to Jesus.

It’s also exciting and a huge praise to see and know Luis is still going strong! He continues to encourage and inspire others as he shares the Good News. Luis was inspired himself (this story was shared in the movie too), when he was in a seminary class being taught by Major Ian Thomas.

Thomas was relaying the story of Moses and the burning bush (the presence of God); He shared “There is a bush that burns. I would like to be a bush like that, but I am just a heap of ashes.” Luis thought that was him, a heap of ashes. I bet Gaston may have thought that too, as I also sometimes think. How about you?

Ian Thomas, Luis, Gaston (and we) encounter God and His presence when He lives in us as we die to self and allow His power and hope to lead our lives. As we allow the Holy Spirit to live in us, like the fire in the bush. Thomas emphasized just how unremarkable a place God chose to inhabit. He said, “Any old bush will do, as long as God is in the bush.”

YAY!! How comforting, inspiring and empowering to know that we may just be any old bush, but God is in the bush . . . in us!

All we need to do is humbly be available, to be committed, and willing to be used by God. You may think that’s not easy to do, but that’s where prayer steps in! Each of us can pray to die to ourselves and our selfish ambitions and be used by God for His glory!

Continue to pray for Luis, Andrew, Kevin and the entire LPA team as God equips and uses them and their ministry for the salvation of many!

Used by our Lord in prayer,
Gail Stockamp

“To them (the saints) God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27).

April 2019 Update

CONNECTED TO THE VINE!

“We pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way; bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:10).

Yay, it’s spring!  This winter was exceptionally harsh on our backyard plants and several of them appeared to have died.  They required major pruning and even after some serious repair efforts they looked terrible – like some bare sticks with a few leaves.

Perhaps this is an analogy for all of us as we live in a cold, fallen world! We can often feel the brutal effects of being pruned or enduring a difficult season.

Be comforted. Even Jesus – our Lord – was “pruned” as His Father sent Him to live as a man on earth. Jesus came to earth to bear our sins, to suffer on the cross, die, and be resurrected – defeating death forever.
That’s extreme pruning!

His resurrection assures that you and I can live eternally. That we too can be grafted into His vine – new, abundant, true life. What a great reminder especially as we approach Easter this month!

In John 15, Jesus commands his followers to “Remain in me.” Stay connected to Jesus! We remain in Jesus and bear fruit as we:

  • Remain in the vine

  • Submit to the vine dresser (pruning)

  • Remain in His Word

  • Remain in prayer

  • Remain in His love

  • Remain in His will

My plants are recovering and showing signs of new life.  How about us?

Our pains, problems and pruning will show tremendous growth and bear great fruit if we allow Jesus to be our vine. To "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18).

To grow spiritually in His truth and love in order to mature and bear fruit! Fruits of the Spirit; “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23).

God’s grace is at work in us by the spiritual fruit we produce. “A tree is recognized by its fruit” (Matthew 12:33).  As mentioned earlier, one way we stay connected to the vine and bear rich fruit is through prayer. Pray to grow as a mature, fruit-bearing follower of Christ.  As you pray, please continue to pray for Luis, Andrew and the Palau ministry too as they till the soil for those who have been pruned by this life, and to sow seeds for eternity and new life with Him!

Bearing fruit in love and prayer,
Gail Stockamp

“This is to my Father’s glory that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples” (John 15:8).

March 2019 Update

HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD!

“Praise the Lord, my soul. Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty.” (Psalm 104:1).

My husband and I recently had the joy of visiting the Grand Canyon.  It is such a vast and majestic experience of God’s great and beautiful creation – truly amazing!  Even more amazing is knowing that while He created this awesome world, He created us in His own image (Genesis 1:27), and love us so incredibly. How wonderful and great is that?

As His followers, Jesus tells us in John 14:12, “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”  I don’t think Jesus is referring to us doing greater miracles than Him, but rather through the work of the power of the Holy Spirit, who lives in us. From John 14, Luis taught on an appreciable and applicable message on Jesus sharing His greatness with us:

  • Dream Great Dreams! Luis and the Palau ministry has dreamed and continues to greatly dream of what the Lord can and will do through them!  The dream of preaching in Central Park in NYC became a reality in July of 2015 and it’s exciting to see what the future holds as the Palau team continues to dream big with the vision for 2020 and beyond!

  • Pray Great Prayers!  In John 14:13-14, Jesus says, “And I will do whatever you ask in m name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” When we ask in the will and power of His name, He answers! We must pray! It’s a joy and a privilege to pray; and that’s what we’re all about! Pray great prayers with us!

  • Obey Great Commands! Jesus commands us to love God with all our hearts and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39). Jesus goes on to remind us in John 14:21, “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me.” We prove our love for Jesus by obeying what he says. The Palau ministry (and we) do this by obeying His great commission to “Go and make disciples of all nations.”

A lot of great things are happening in the Palau ministry and while they’re dreaming great dreams, we need prayer to make them reality!  The Next Generation Alliance (NGA) is growing, as is the Global Network of Evangelists (GNE) to fulfill that great commission. Check out the Palau website for City Gospel Movements (CGM): citygospelmovements.org.  The CGM team is rising up and the Church is being strengthened and unified. There’s a lot of work to do and your prayers are needed.

Thanks for joining us as we pray for Luis, Kevin, Andrew, and the entire Palau team as God empowers, commands and commissions them to proclaim the Gospel and do great things around His amazing world!

Praying with you,
Gail Stockamp

February 2019 Update

LOVE LETTERS FROM GOD

“A blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you” (Deuteronomy 23:5).

My husband and I were high school sweethearts. This June, we celebrate 40 years of marriage. When we were young and newly in love, we’d exchange love notes and call each other sweet names like “Honey” and “Sugar Pie.”

Valentine’s Day is a time to express love – however mushy, goofy, or sentimental it sometimes is. We buy flowers, candy, even extravagant gifts like jewelry to express our affection to loved ones.

We should remember during this season of expressing love, that in God’s extravagance, He gave the ultimate gift. His gift is priceless – expressed in action by coming to earth as Jesus to die a sinner’s death. To redeem us into a relationship with Him!

Here’s some love letters He wrote to you:

  • “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

  • “The LORD appeared to us in the past saying ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness’” (Jeremiah 31:3).

  • “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love, lives in God, and God in them” (John 4:16).

  • “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).

These are only a few of God’s many expressions of love for us.  I’d be remiss if I didn’t share the most famous one of all:

  • “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

A way we can express our love back to Him is through acts of service in love and devotion, as well as in our prayers. As endearments, we can tell Him who He is to us as our SOVEREIGN, HOLY, ALMIGHTY, CREATOR, REDEEMER, PROMISE KEEPER (the list goes on!).

Pray your love for Him, back to Him and for those you love and He loves, to come to know Him as their Savior! Pray for Luis and Andrew and the entire Palau team as well as they share God’s love with a hurting world.

Andrew and the team are in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire right now bringing the Gospel to hundreds of people. Pray for them and read updates on the reports below for more details of what God is doing in West Africa and all around the world.

Love in Jesus,

January 2019 Update

FAITHFUL INTO THE FUTURE

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past! See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (Isaiah 43:18-19).

Happy New Year!

Our son has a birthday in January and as much as he loves the celebration, he’s not a fan of the time of year. It can be depressing. It’s dark and cold (very rainy here in the Pacific Northwest), New Year’s resolutions are already being broken, and bills from Christmas shopping are piling up.

However, this is stress from a worldly perspective!

Despite stresses, we can always wake up each morning and say “Good morning Holy Spirit!” It’s a new day and there’s joy and hope in every day – and every New Year – because of Jesus!

We are blessed to view life and a New Year with the knowledge that we are children and heirs of the King. We have GRACE (God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense), giving us peace that surpasses all understanding.

I want to share a few verses from the Bible to help us frame the coming year from a positive, hopeful, and God-focused perspective:

  • “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17).

  • “Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what He has done” (1 Chronicles 16:8).

  • “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him” (Lamentations 3:22-24).

  • “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps” (Proverbs 16:9).

  • “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

As we begin a New Year, thank God with me for His faithfulness in the past as well as His fresh hope in the future. God is making a way through this fallen world and He has amazing plans in store for each of us!

Please join us in prayer and thanksgiving by praying for the reports below. Also, you’re invited to join us on January 29 as we come together for unified prayer! See details below.

With bright hopes for tomorrow,
Gail Stockamp

December 2018 Update

JESUS ‘IN’ US

“Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel," which translated means, ‘GOD WITH US.’” (Matthew 1:23).

Merry Christmas!

We all know the beautiful story of Jesus’ birth from Luke 2. What joy we have as we prepare to celebrate his birth! He was transformed as Sovereign God into human form as a baby. God in the flesh; literally "God with us.” Even more inconceivable than his virgin birth through the Holy Spirit is that God shares his indwelling power to be “IN" each of us. In. Such a simple, little word. Yet such a powerful reality.

Check out these beautiful verses of truth; Jesus IN us:

  • "Do you not know that the Spirit of God dwells IN you?" (2 Corinthians 3:16).

  •  "If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives IN them and they in God.  And so we know and rely on the love God has for us" (1 John 4:15-16)

  • “I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives IN me” (Galatians 2:20)

  •  “Christ IN you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27)

  •  “That Christ may make His home IN your hearts through faith” (Ephesians 3:17).

How awesome is that?

To know God abides in us, surrounding us, He is pleased to reveal in us more of the wonderful person of Christ, making His home in our hearts! When He dwells in us. He can’t help but dwell up into our mind and thoughts (see Philippians 4:8). From our thoughts, come our words. Words of praise. Words of encouragement. Words of joy! Then our loving words become love in action: sharing Him and His Word, the Good News with others!

Luis, Andrew, and the Palau team have the joy of doing this daily. So can we! One way is through our prayers. Pray for the Palau ministry as God uses it to proclaim the Good News to as many people as possible! That a Savior is born, Christ the Lord, to dwell by faith IN each one who receives this message of truth, hope, and love to our hurting world.

Abiding IN His Love,

Gail Stockamp

"And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them" (Revelation 21:3).

THANK YOU!

We’re thankful to join with you in prayer. May you experience God’s lavish love given to us through the birth His Son; dwelling in your heart, mind, words and deeds!  God bless you during this Christmas season and always!

“Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever” (Psalm 23:6).

November 2018 Update

ABUNDANT BLESSINGS!

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work”
(2 Corinthians 9:8).

Thanksgiving is coming soon, a time to remember our blessings. As we live in a fallen world, that’s hard to do sometimes! Nationally we’re fighting fires, mourning over lost lives from senseless shootings, and living through a nation severely politically divided.

Personally, you may be facing broken relationships, serious illnesses, difficult working conditions, and financial pressures – to name only a few stresses.

Yet, take heart! Blessings abound!

Check out Matthew 5 and be thankful in the beatitudes. God blesses those who are:

Poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
In mourning, for they’ll be comforted
Meek, for they’ll inherit the earth
Hungering for righteousness, for they’ll be filled
Merciful, for they’ll be shown mercy
Pure in heart, for they’ll see God
Peacemakers, for they’ll be called children of God
Persecuted for righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven

Each beatitude tells us how we are blessed by God, which means more than being happy through any pleasure this world may offer.  Being blessed by God means to experience hope and joy, independent of our circumstances.  It assures us of the abundant rewards of those who are in God’s Kingdom!  That’s us, and don’t we want others to join us in these rewards?  That’s what the Palau ministry does!!! It does NOT mean less for us; in God’s economy it means more, with blessings overflowing for all who receive Him!

I love the story of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20:21 when he sent out the choir of praise before sending out the army.  We can go forward as the choir of praise as we send Jesus our prayers on behalf and before the LPA army . . . Luis, Andrew, and the entire team!  Give thanks and pray for the many blessings and opportunities the Lord has given you individually as well corporately for the Palau ministry.  Join us by opening the below reports and pray for LPA as they proclaim the Gospel and its eternal rewards.

In Praise and Thanksgiving,
Gail Stockamp

October 2018 Update

PREPARE FOR BATTLE!

“Be strong with the Lord’s mighty power.
Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the devil. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty power of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.”
Psalm 46:10

It’s October! The stores are full of Halloween costume, candy, and decorations. While Halloween can be full of innocent fun, it’s also a holiday that has a history of entertainment in evil ideas. It’s a reminder to us how Satan can make truly sinful and horrible activities appear as fun.

As believers, we know that heaven and hell are real, and we cannot lighten the many spiritual battles we frequently – and will continue to – encounter.

We have to remember to put on our spiritual armor daily. We have to be prepare for his attacks.

The great news, though, is that the battle is not ours, it belongs to God. In Joshua 5:13, before the battle at Jericho, Joshua saw a man with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua asked him if he was “for us or for our enemies?” He replied, “Neither, but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.”

We know God is on our side. The question remains for all of us – are we on God’s side?

One of the visions God gave a prayer-partner at the Fresno, CA festival in April 2017 appeared to a different prayer partner in Grand Rapids, MI festival last month. Isn’t that amazing?! In both instances, angels were in high places looking down. Their swords were drawn as a sign of protection for those in attendance.

As one of the team members shared with me, “That’s why the prayer team is the first team established in every festival city as well as the last one to leave.” Prayer is important! Especially when evangelism is at work and Satan is most trying to keeping people from hearing the Good News or choosing Jesus. Remember though, “The Lord is faithful and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one” (2 Thessalonians 3:3).

We can be prepared to fight as a marvelous soldier in God’s army as prayer warriors too!  Just as soldiers are trained to keep their equipment in battle-ready condition, we too must do the same as we diligently prepare for battle against our spiritual enemy.

As Ephesians 6:10-18 tell us, our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms!  So put on the full armor of God, using our breastplate of righteousness with the shield of faith to protect our hearts from Satan’s flaming arrows of temptation!

Stay grounded to stand firm with the belt of truth to recognize his lies. Our feet must be fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  Have God’s knowledge, using the helmet of salvation, to protect our minds from doubt!  Keep our swords sharp by knowing and being in God’s Word, which has the power of Jesus to cause Satan to flee in terror!

Praise God we are assured victory in Jesus!  He gives us the power to defeat Satan by the Holy Spirit in us!  Yet while we live in a fallen world, we know spiritual warfare is real and serious business!  We must continue to engage in the struggle as Satan will continue to battle against all who are on the Lord’s side. So keep on praying, prayer warriors! Pray in the Spirit for all Palau events and occasions, with all kinds of prayers and requests (check them out in detail below) and pray with us on October 23 (again, details below)!

Be alert and keep on praying for all the saints… Luis, Andrew, Kevin and the entire Palau team!

Protected and praying with you in the power of Jesus’ name,
Gail Stockamp

“Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—
guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.”

September 2018 Update

GET UNPLUGGED!

“Be still and know that I am God!”
Psalm 46:10

Summer is coming to an end, and as the new school years begin and vacations come to end, we mentally prepare for the busy routines of life to rev up once again. And with the busyness adds the pressure to be constantly connected to our phone and computers with multiple portals of communication (even this email – thank you!).

But where does it end? Or, does it ever?

Did God create us to GO GO GO?

No!

Even He modeled rest for us (Genesis 2:2).

In the midst of our going, doing, and being in this race of life, let’s be sure to take a timeout to pray and seek Him! Enjoy your daily quiet time with the Lord in His Word. A friend of mine shared with me recently that she considers her devotion and prayer time with the Lord as her dessert each day – she looked forward that much to unplugging from the craziness of life and simply being with Him.

So get unplugged and have dessert! Spend some time praying with us for Luis, Andrew and the LPA team as they travel worldwide sharing the Gospel. As you know they just returned from Grand Rapids, so there’s much to share and praise God for!

Please pray with us and open the below reports to praise God for many answered prayers and to specifically know what to pray for in the months ahead.

Resting in the Power of Jesus’ Name,
Gail Stockamp

August 2018 Update

IT'S PERSONAL!

I have called you by name; you are mine (Isaiah 43:1b).

I love summertime! It means blue skies, sunshine, warm (ok, hot) weather, Bar-B-Qs, and family vacations. Our family had the joy of houseboat camping together and sleeping outside under the stars this summer. It was amazing! The dark sky was full of bright, twinkling lights – millions of them!

I thought of the Psalm 147:4: "He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.” How incredible is that?

The Creator of the universe not only knows each star by name, but think of it. And we’re no different. He knows each of us intimately and personally! We’re the pinnacle of His creation, created in His own image! We’re His glory, children of the King. We belong to Him!

One of my favorite Bible verses that Luis brought to light for me is 1 Peter 2:9: “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” God has created and knows each of us! Yet sadly, many are still in the dark and don’t know Him!

That’s where we come in!

We’re His vessels to do His great work! We have the joy and responsibility of bringing others to Him. We can come together in prayer and join in the work the Palau team is doing worldwide to proclaim the Good News!

Andrew and the team just had a great time sharing the Gospel in Eugene, Oregon and are now headed to Bogotá, Colombia. Then it’s Grand Rapids and more cities throughout the year.

Please pray with us and open the below reports to specifically know what to pray for in the months ahead.

Called by Him in the Power of Jesus’ Name,

Gail Stockamp

"You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you" (John 15:16).

July 2018 Update

HOLY SPIRIT DYNAMITE!

“But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the Lord . . .” (Micah 3:8a)

Our country recently celebrated its freedom on the 4th of July.

You may have done what my family did and enjoyed a great, explosive, and powerful display of fireworks. Did you know that the word “power” is translated from the Greek word “dynamis,” where we get the English word “dynamite.” In the World’s view, power brings independence and self-sufficiency – with no need for God’s – or anybody else’s – help. Completely self-sufficient. Strong enough.

But actually, any power like this is temporary and doesn’t satisfy completely.

Jesus told His disciples, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses . . . to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

How awesome is it to know that He lives in us and empowers us to be witnesses of God’s love!

One way to tap into this power is through prayer. “After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly” (Acts 4:31).

God is sharing his dynamite power with us because as faithful followers, He abides in us! And when He abides in us, He has the power to use us! It’s also the only power that is sufficient to win spiritual battles against our own selfish desires and the devil. He has the power to blast out anything that is unlike God.

He uses His power to break us so that He might remake us. He helps us get rid of our selfish desires, submit to His will, and transform our lives completely.

As Luis, Andrew, and the Palau team are in the business of evangelism and tapping into the Holy Spirit’s dynamic power, would you join me in setting aside some time today to pray for our Palau friends to continue to be used by God in a powerful way to share the Gospel with those who need to hear it.

You can catch up on all that is happening through the Palau Association in the coming months by reading the reports below. Then, let’s all ask God to give us boldness to use our Holy Spirit power to transmit His message through us too!

Praying in the Holy Spirit’s Power and in Jesus’ Name,

Gail Stockamp

“My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power” (1 Corinthians 2:4).

Andrew met with pastors and city leaders to discuss the possibility of city-wide festivals in several communities. He had fantastic early conversations with leaders in Birmingham, Bristol, and Wolverhampton. It appears evident that Gospel momentum is building in the UK. Andrew ended his time in Sunbury, England, speaking at the Joy@KemptonPark Festival on Father’s Day. More than 15 churches came together for this festival, reaching over 2,000 people, and feeding more than 5,000 throughout the weekend. Dozens of individuals made public commitments to Jesus Christ as a result. (It may not seem like many people to us in the U.S., but this was a big deal for the UK.)

June 2018 Update

TASTE AND SEE!

“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him” (Psalm 34:8).

Do you live to eat or do you eat to live? My home – Portland Oregon – is one of the most varied food cities in the country. Food gives us such pleasure doesn’t it? It alerts our senses. The smells.  The tastes. It is to be savored and enjoyed, especially in good company with friends and family. However, as life-giving as food is, it’s not always nourishing. We can over indulge, eat food that’s bad for us, become gluttonous and need relief.

In Matthew 4:4, Jesus rebukes Satan when tempted: "'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’” We can live to eat by being nourished on God’s Word, and we can’t actually over indulge on this spiritual fuel. In fact, it will provide relief and peace . . . “taste and see” that this is true by sitting at the banquet table of His Word.

“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work” (John 4:34).

We simply need to dig in, and one way of doing that is by praying. God’s Word is how He feeds us and communicates with us. This spiritual nourishment is also provided by LPA (and us) by doing God’s will and helping to bring His work of salvation to completion. We can be nourished not only by what we take in, but also by what we give out for God! Please join me in giving through prayer for Luis, Andrew, and the Palau team as they share God’s banquet table with the nation and the world! Then in satisfaction, as Psalm 34:8 ends, we will be blessed and take refuge in Him!

Feasting with you in God’s Word and prayer,

Gail Stockamp

May 2018 Update

LIVING WATER

“As a deer gets thirsty for streams of water, I truly am thirsty for you, my God” (Psalm 42:1).

Happy Spring! It’s the time of year when we plant flowers and gardens. I recently bought a lovely plant thinking it was well watered, only to discover the next day that it was limp and wilted. (And it was to be a gift too!) I immediately watered it and upon checking it hours later, it looked beautiful and as good as new – yippee! Wow, what a difference a little water made!

What a great analogy for us. God’s Word is our Living Water! Without it, our lives are dry and droopy! Luis once shared that our existence is made up of body, mind, and spirit. Most people these days diet and work out to care for their bodies. They value education to care for their minds. But as a nation (and perhaps worldwide) we are spiritually bankrupt! We’re withering and dying (literally for eternity).

But when we believe in God’s Word and use it as daily nourishment, it is eternal life-giving food for our souls! We have joy, energy, and can be a powerful fountain of His love. Check out John 4 and read about Jesus and the woman at the well. She’ll tell you. Jesus quenched her thirst for God!

Luis, Andrew, and the Palau team are working to quench the thirst of those parched in spirit by bringing them the gospel of salvation. So many people are wilting, crushed, and dry in spirit and dying inside. Please join us in prayer in bringing them hope through the Good News of Jesus Christ. May our prayers for LPA in sharing God’s Word be a cup of cold water and an oasis in the spiritual desert of our world!

So perk up, pray and drink in God’s Word today!

Hydrated in Him,
Gail Stockamp

April 2018 Update

LET GOD'S LIGHT SHINE

On August 21 there was a complete solar eclipse. Perhaps you were able to experience it.

Living in Portland, Oregon, my husband and I thought we would experience the total dark effect as only .6 percent of the sun’s light would be exposed, verses 100% darkness, which others would experience. We had a “dusk” effect which was impressive but not nearly as much as we had hoped! What a difference less than 1 percent of light made, especially in comparison to friends and family that viewed the eclipse in places of total darkness, where street lights came on, crickets chirped and it was totally dark as night.

Total blackness occurred during daytime over 2,000 years ago too, not from an eclipse, but from Jesus’ death on the cross. Luke 23:44-45 teaches us, “It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining.”

Can you imagine?

All of nature was in mourning as God Himself left the world! In contrast, when the Israelites were wandering around in the wilderness, “By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light…neither left its place in front of the people” (Exodus 13:21-22). God lit their path so they could see their way, protecting and reassuring them of His presence. Jesus did that for us too on Easter morning.

At dawn, in Matthew 28:3 (The angel’s) “appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow,” announcing the good news of Jesus’ resurrection. The soldiers were afraid, shook and became like dead men. The woman who came were afraid too, but filled with joy as they ran to tell his disciples. We can be filled with joy too and tell others!

As we discovered from the eclipse (or even from a lit candle in a dark room), light always overcomes darkness! We can be His light too, not shining the light on ourselves, but lighting the way to Jesus. He doesn’t want us to hide our light, or be ashamed of Him, but instead be bold and bright, shining for Him!

The Palau team does this so well in proclaiming the Good News of Jesus’ resurrection and redemption worldwide! Let’s join them, using our light in prayer. God’s light continues to shine through Luis and we give God all the glory as we thank Him for the great news of Luis’ tumor shrinking. Please continue to pray with us for Luis’ health as well as for the Palau team shining Jesus' light of salvation to a dark world.

Lit up for Jesus with You,
Gail Stockamp

March 2018 Update

FAITH + PRAYER = POWER

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see… and without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:1,6).

Dear Praying Friends,

Each of us have faith. Faith is putting our trust and confidence in Jesus. Believing He truly is the Son of God and our Savior! Faith is a gift from our loving God that He uses to bring salvation to all people. And what a joy to see God use Luis, Andrew and our NGA evangelists to share this faith with so many.

The Bible is full of wonderful examples of how faith produces miracles and how a lack of faith produces nothing. Even Jesus could not perform many miracles in Nazareth because the people there lacked faith (Matthew 13:58).  After seeing many of Jesus’ miracles firsthand, his disciples still didn’t understand (a form of a lack of faith) because their hearts were hardened (Mark 6:52) and they didn’t transfer the truth about Jesus to their own lives.

Sadly, I think that is still true today.

Once we have the faith that God can accomplish the seemingly impossible, we need to combine our faith with prayer. God can do anything when we have faith and when our requests are aligned with His will. Without prayer, the power of faith is limited as shown in Mark 9:14 – 29 when the disciples could not understand why they could not cast the demon out of the boy. Jesus responded by saying that “this kind can come out only by prayer.”

I pray that we will all have a faith that is empowered by prayer!

I pray that we will have a heart that is soft and motivated with God’s interests in mind. I pray that we will confidently know that difficult situations can be resolved only through prayer!

Please pray with me in God’s will to have the faith to unleash God’s healing power and work a miracle in Luis’ body for complete healing! Pray that the LPA ministry will persevere in God’s will, taking advantage of the many amazing open doors, and using the power of the Holy Spirit to love and serve others. Please open the below reports to see how LPA is reaching our world in faith for the Gospel.

Walking in Faith in Jesus with You,

Gail Stockamp

February 2018 Update

TRUSTING IN JESUS!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight” Proverbs 3:5-6.

Dear Praying Friends,

Proverbs 3:5-6 is one of my favorites. It was my and my husband’s wedding text 38 years ago, and remains my life verse.  It’s never let me down. It’s a promise I have clung to and will continue to do so! So when there’s tough times and the road is hard, I’m choosing to trust in Him with all my heart. I put my faith in Him to carry me through. When I step out in faith and trust Him, I’m taking Him at His Word! I can do that because His Word is true, it’s light, it’s life!

Having said that, I’m still in denial that Luis is ill.

How can this be happening when he walks so closely with God, and in my humble and human opinion, has so much more to do in mentoring and teaching us before the Lord takes him to his heavenly home. Then it’s time to remind myself of Proverbs 3:5-6 again…. I need to trust in the Lord with – not some – but ALL of my heart and lean not on my understanding. I need to have faith to know that we worship an Almighty, Sovereign God who is so much bigger than our finite understanding. I need to remember Romans 8:28; that He works ALL things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose (not ours)!  Even in a fallen world, He knows what’s best!

There’s an old hymn by Frances Havergal that I love. I’ll paraphrase for you: I am trusting Thee Lord Jesus, trusting only thee. Trusting thee for salvation and pardon, full of grace and mercy. Trusting thee for cleansing to make me holy. Trusting thee for guidance to supply my needs. Trusting thee for power because Your Word prevails. Trusting Him to never let me fall, trusting thee forever because He’s my all in all.

So let’s all trust Him and PRAY!

Pray for a miracle of complete healing in Luis’ body. Pray for Pat, the family and the entire Palau staff; that they can lean on His understanding and acknowledge Him to make their path straight. Pray for God’s strength to carry the Palau team on, though Satan would love for them to stop sharing the Good News. Pray for a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit as the gospel continues to shine from this ministry worldwide. Open the regional reports before for more details on how to pray for them!

Trusting Jesus with You,
Gail Stockamp

January 2018 Update

WE THE CHURCH!

“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:11-13).

Dear praying friends,

It's 2018, Happy New Year! It's a new season, a time to reflect on our Lord and how He is going to equip and use us for His glory. He's given each of us unique gifts to use in service to Him.

He's given Luis and Andrew the gift of evangelism. He's given you and me gifts too, as part of the body of Christ, as being united together as the Church. God has given all of us an enormous responsibility; to make disciples in every nation (Matthew 28:18-20).

By now I'm sure you've heard the message from Luis regarding his health. He has and I'm sure, will continue to fulfill the command Jesus gave to preach the Gospel and make disciples until his final breath. He has been a gift to the Church; teaching, preaching and ministering God's word, growing us up as Ephesians 4:13 says, "until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God."

I've had the pleasure of knowing Luis personally for over 20 years now, and I can't thank him enough for being such a great spiritual mentor! When our family met him, we knew and loved Jesus, but he helped us grow deeper in our faith, experiencing Jesus' love for us in a more personal way!

So it's our turn! Let us now, working and praying together, be an encouragement back to Luis and express the fullness of Christ to him! In union with Christ and through His empowering Spirit, we are complete. we have all the fullness of God available to us.

How? Through faith and through prayer! Let's use our gifts to strengthen and encourage the church, yes, but also Luis, as he too, battles living in a fallen world.

Meanwhile, the work to share the Good News goes on!

Please open the regional reports below for more details and join us for our quarterly conference call tomorrow, January 23rd! Let's be the Church body for Luis, Andrew, Kevin, and the LPA team as they use their gifts to serve God around the world.

Uniting with you in prayer,
Gail Stockamp
